We are looking at the SONS OF PROPHETS from BETHEL.
We have discovered that were many of them 50 here, a hundred there. So where did they live? Where did they sleep?
Have you ever thought that the The SONS OF THE PROPHETS actually BUILT DORMITORIES TO LIVE IN?
2 Kings 6:1 And the SONS OF THE PROPHETS said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us.
2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man TAKE A BEAM FROM THERE, and let us MAKE THERE A PLACE WHERE WE MAY DWELL.”
So he answered, “Go.”
3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.”
And he answered, “I will go.”
4 So he went with them. And when they CAME TOTHE JORDAN, THEY CUT DOWN TREES.
This is the account where an ax head fell into the water and sank and the distressed young man exclaimed that it had been borrowed. Elisha made the axehead float so that the young man could retrieve it.
The context of this account is that the young sons of the prophets were cutting trees to build bigger sleeping quarters for themselves because they had outgrown their former dormitories.
How about that?
Does this sound just like a modern day live-in Bible College.
