STATEMENT OF FAITH
What We Believe
Good News for Israel is a Christian ministry rooted in the authority of Scripture, centred upon Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah, and committed to God’s continuing purposes for Israel and the nations.
1. One God
We believe in one eternal God as He has revealed Himself in the Scriptures. “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.” (Deuteronomy 6:4) who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; each Person being fully God, and there being only one God. He is love and He is holy.
2. The Scriptures
We believe the Bible – the Old Testament (Tanakh) and the New Testament (Gospels and Apostolic Writings) – is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God and the final authority for faith and life. We believe God created the Heavens and the Earth out of nothing, and everything in them, over six days. We believe the Torah is holy, just and good, guiding us in what is good and evil and reflecting God’s character, and remains our guide for faith and living. We honour Shabbat and God’s Appointed Times as ongoing gifts to His people, each pointing to the person and work of Messiah.
3. Jesus (Yeshua)
the Messiah,
the Son of God
We believe that Jesus (Yeshua) is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Eternal One in whom all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form, and who is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us, and whose glory we beheld, the glory of the uniquely begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-14; Colossians 2:9). We believe in Jesus’ humanity, deity, virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death for the sins of the world, resurrection from the dead, ascension to the Father’s right hand and personal return to reign upon earth.
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates, indwells and empowers believers for a life of godliness and service.
5. Humanity, Sin
& Salvation
We believe all people are created in God’s image, but have fallen into sin. Salvation (justification) is by grace alone, through faith in the atoning work of Yeshua, the Messiah, the Son of God, manifesting in a life of obedience to the commandments (sanctification) by the power of the Holy Spirit.
6. Israel & the
Jewish People
We believe God’s covenant with Israel is eternal. We affirm His ongoing purposes for the Jewish people and support their return to the land and their prophetic destiny.
7. The Nations
We believe God’s heart is for all nations. The Good News of Yeshua, the Messiah, the Son of God, is the culmination of God’s covenants for both the Jew and the nations – every people, tribe, tongue and nation.
8. The People
of God
We believe that all who believe, trust and follow Yeshua – Jewish and Gentile alike – are one in Messiah and together form the people of God.
9. Immersion & the
Lord’s Supper
We believe in immersion in water as an act of a believer’s own decision to follow Yeshua as His disciple. We believe the Lord’s Supper is rooted in the Passover meal, kept in remembrance of Messiah’s sacrifice until He comes.
10. Mission
We believe Yeshua has commissioned His disciples to make disciples of all nations, immersing and teaching them to observe all He commanded. We believe in the immersion of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers for this mission, for service, and for healing.
11. The Return of
Messiah & the
World to Come
We believe in the blessed hope – the personal, physical return of Messiah Yeshua to reign for one thousand years upon the throne of David in Jerusalem, followed by the resurrection of the dead and the final judgement, leading into the World to Come.
Rooted in Scripture.
