It is most commonly understood to mean the immigration of Jews from the diaspora to the Land of Israel (Eretz Israel in Hebrew). It is also defined as &#8220;the act of going up&#8221;\u2014that is, towards Jerusalem\u2014&#8221;making Aliyah&#8221; by moving to the Land of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The 5 Aliyahs in the Bible<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know that there have been 5 returns to the land of Israel by God\u2019s people? &#8211; 5 Aliyah\u2019s in history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Aliyah 1 &#8211; The Exodus<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>From Egypt &#8211; also called<\/b><b> the Moses\/Joshua Aliyah &#8211; 2.5 million people.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the first and biggest of the 5 Aliyah&#8217;s and was the journey when <\/span><b>Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and then <\/span><b>Joshua led them across the Jordan River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and into the land of Canaan. An estimated 2.5 million people made Aliyah over 40 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next recorded Aliyahs of the Jewish people to the land were after the Babylonian captivity in 538 BC and they were&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Aliyah 2 &#8211; Sheshbazzar&#8217;s Aliyah<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>From Babylon &#8211; 538 BC &#8211; 1000 people.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After Cyrus&#8217;s Decree, in around 538 BCE approximately 1,000 young Jews made aliyah in what became known as Sheshbazzar&#8217;s Aliyah, out of the notion to redeem the land of Israel from its ruins and to re-establish the holy temple on the Temple Mount. This aliyah was named after its leader Sheshbazzar because most scholars have agreed that he is a descendant of the house of Jeconiah, king of Judah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aliyah 3 <b>&#8211; Zerubbabel&#8217;s Aliyah<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>From Babylon &#8211; 516 BC &#8211; 42,360 (plus servants and handmaids).\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second wave of people returning is known as Zerubbabel&#8217;s Aliyah, was led by Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, the grandson of Jeconiah, king of Judah, and a descendant of the house of David as well as Joshua the son of Jehozadak who was appointed as high priest (Kohen Gadol), in 538 BCE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aliyah 4 <b>&#8211; Ezra&#8217;s Aliyah <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>From Babylon &#8211; 5000 Jewish people<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The third aliyah was led by Ezra the scribe. Ezra made aliyah with an official approval of the Persian government. Around 5,000 Jews were in this wave of returnees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aliyah 5 &#8211; Nehemiah&#8217;s Aliyah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>From Babylon\u00a0 &#8211; unknown number.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fourth aliyah was led by Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Prior to that, he served as the royal cupbearer to the king of Persia and as Man of the Great Assembly. He oversaw the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Several hundred years after Nehemiah&#8217;s Aliyah, i<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n 70 AD, came the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and the commencement of the <\/span><b>slavery and exile of the Jewish people<\/b> once again<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it was this way for a very long and very difficult 1850 years. Far longer than the time that the Israelites spent in Egypt as slaves. Certainly no one can ignore the persecution of the Jewish people in every nation they have resided in, the Crusades, the pogroms and the persecution culminating in the holocaust.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So when the hope of the Jewish people was at perhaps its lowest ebb, the biggest sign of the coming of Messiah was about to be revealed to the Jewish people and the nations &#8211; that He would bring the Jewish people back home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This came firstly with the reestablishment of a homeland for the Jewish people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And then came the SIXTH and final Aliyah.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aliyah 6 &#8211; Messiah&#8217;s Aliyah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>From the 4 corners of the earth &#8211; currently 3.6 million &#8211; over more than 70 years &#8211; bigger than the Exodus<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact Jeremiah declares that the mighty Exodus from Egypt, which forms the basis of the meaning behind the Passover Seder, the giving of the Torah to Moses, the Tabernacle and the entering into the Promised land after hundreds of years of bondage &#8211; will ultimately be eclipsed by the return of the Jewish people to Israel in the days of Messiah.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Jeremiah 16:14<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cTherefore behold, the days are coming,\u201d says the Lord, \u201cthat<\/span><b> it shall no more be said, \u2018The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u2019<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15 but, \u2018The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and <\/span><b>from all the lands where He had driven them<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u2019 For <\/span><b>I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>It is the biggest sign for Christians that Messiah is coming and the nations (GENTILE CHRISTIANS) are to declare it.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Jeremiah 31:10 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHear the word of the Lord, <\/span><b>O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2018He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the Jewish people, the Lord declare &#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 62:4<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 11:12<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He will set up a banner for the nations, and <\/span><b>will assemble the outcasts of Israel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The GENTILE CHRISTIANS are to be practically involved in this enormous event.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 49:22<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Thus says the Lord God: \u201cBehold, I will lift My hand <\/span><b>in an oath to the nations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and set up My standard for the peoples; <\/span><b>they shall bring your sons in their arms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>At this sign, the GENTILE CHRISTIANS will turn again and honour the land and people of Israel and so honour the Lord.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Zephaniah 3:20<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> At that time <\/span><b>I will bring you back<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, even at the time I gather you; for I will give <\/span><b>you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, when I <\/span><b>return your captives before your eyes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d says the Lord.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The whole world will see it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 52:9<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem! For the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 The Lord has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations; and <\/span><b>all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>So far in our day more than 3.6 million Jewish people have made Aliyah &#8211; returned to Israel.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>In our day we are seeing one of the greatest miracles of all time &#8211; and the greatest sign of the return of Messiah Jesus.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Why not be involved in this great story yourself.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><a style=\"color: #99cc00;\" href=\"http:\/\/enterthestory.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jump in here<\/a><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Aliyah?
