We are talking about the MANTLE that indicated that Elisha was the next MASTER PROPHET after Elijah to lead the SONS OF THE PROPHETS from BETHEL.
What about today? Do you and I need to go and get some camel or goat hair material to wear to indicate that God is with us?
John the Baptist was preaching and baptising people in the River Jordan.
Luke 3:3 And he went into all the region AROUND THE JORDAN, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins…
16 John answered, saying to all, “I indeed BAPTISE YOU WITH WATER; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will BAPTISE YOU WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND FIRE.
21 When all the people were baptised, it came to pass that JESUS WAS ALSO BAPTISED; and while He prayed, THE HEAVEN WAS OPENED.
22 And THE HOLY SPIRIT DESCENDED IN BODILY FORM LIKE A DOVE UPON HIM, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Hmmm. Sound familiar? John the Baptist dressed in camel hair with his disciples watching. (They were his SONS OF THE PROPHETS).
At the same spot in the Jordan River where Elijah stood with the sons of the prophets watching.
The heavens open and out of heaven comes the Holy Spirit and comes upon Jesus.
Sounds remarkably like the moment when the heavens opened and the fiery chariot took Elijah away and the MANTLE fell down for Elisha to confirm he was the anointed one.
